'The Good Wife' Latest News: Creators Creators To Develop New Single-Comedy With CBS?
"The Good Wife" creators Robert and Michelle King are currently developing another single-camera comedy show with CBS.
According to reports, the untitled project hails from "Miss Congeniality" writer Marc Lawrence and has been developed with a script deal. "The Good Wife" creators will be joined in by Liz Glotzer and will serve as the show's executive producers.
The untitled comedy series focuses on an extremely non-confrontational single mother who gets promoted as the Dean of Students at the high school where she teaches. As she assumes her new role, she is compelled to contend with overly-involved parents, as well as difficult administrators and a challenging student body, including her two teenagers.
For the past two decades, Marc Lawrence has largely focused on making films. He served as co-writer of the two "Miss Congeniality" films, both starring Sandra Bullock. He also wrote the script for and directed several romantic comedies, including "2 Weeks' Notice," "Music and Lyrics," and "The Rewrite."
In the early 2000s, Lawrence linked up with CBS in developing a comedy. He was also behind the remake of "Bewitched," which unfortunately did not make it to air.
Meanwhile, Robert and Michelle King are reportedly executive producing "The Good Fight," "The Good Wife" spinoff series. It is expected to debut on CBS All Access sometime in February 2017. According to reports, production for the said digital series kicked off production last month.
After "The Good Wife" came to a close, the Kings produced "Brain Dead" on CBS. However, the show was cancelled after its debut season due to lack of audience.
