The Great Romance frontman and lead singer Matt Vollmar is being credited along with two other pastors for rescuing a woman from her burning home in the St. Louis suburb of Belleville, Ill., around lunchtime last Friday.

On Oct. 5, as Vollmar and two fellow pastors from St. Matthew United Methodist Church were heading back to the church following lunch, they noticed a burning home. Stopping by to get a closer look, they heard a woman crying out for help.

Vollmar and Andy Black entered the smoke-filled home while Vollmar's wife, Lindsay, called first responders. Inside, they found the woman who was weak and overcome by smoke.

"She kept saying 'help me, help me,'" Vollmar said in an interview with KSDK's reporter on Five On Your Side News.

Vollmar and Black brought the woman out of the house to safety.

"I think God had His Hand on this situation," Black said during the interview with the news channel. Lindsay Vollmar added, "She is our neighbor and I'm grateful that she is out and that she is going to be OK."
