A trailer was just released for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was just released a fan event for the new movie.

Fans got their first glimpse of the Peter Jackson-directed epic along with a Q&A with some of the stars of the movie such as Orlando Bloom, Lee Pace, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans and Andy Serkis.

"The lord of silver fountains, the king of carven stone, the king beneath the mountain, shall come into his own, and the bells shall ring in gladness at the mountain king's return, but all shall fail in sadness, and the lake will shine and burn."

In the trailer it's plain to see that Bard the Bowman [Luke Evans] will play a big part in The Hobbit sequel.

"The lord of silver fountains, the king of carven stone, the king beneath the mountain, shall come into his own, and the bells shall ring in gladness at the mountain king's return, but all shall fail in sadness, and the lake will shine and burn," Bard voices over the opening scene.

Evangeline Lily is joining the cast as a new elf character, Tauriel, who looks like she may have a little romance with Orlando Bloom's arrow slinging elf warrior, Legolas.

The Desolation of Smaug has a scheduled release date set for December 13. The third and final installment in the franchise, There and Back Again is due out July 18, 2014.
