'The Last of Us 2' Release Date, News: Game Rumored To Be Unveiled Between 2020-2021
After several years of waiting, fans of "The Last of Us" will finally be able to play a new version of the Naughty Dog's action-adventure survival video game.
The developers of the game confirmed recently that they plan to come up with a sequel for the video game. However, the studio still does not have any concrete plans for "The Last of Us 2," so it is possible that the game will not be released anytime soon.
Creative Director Neil Druckman revealed in his interview last July that it took them three years to create the first video game. That said, it looks like fans of "The Last of Us" might have to wait for a few more years for its sequel.
The Naughty Dog is currently taking its time in creating projects for the franchise. Asked about the development of "The Last of Us" feature film, Druckmann said he is the writer of the film and it has unfortunately not progressed for the past few years.
Some reports also claim that the studio will complete first the downloadable content (DLC) for "Uncharted 4" before it works on "The Last of Us 2." One of the reported reasons for the delay of the sequel is the said video game. According to reports, the studio still has to complete the intellectual property rights for the title following the DLC launch before they can proceed to work on the sequel. There are also rumors that the developers are currently waiting for the launch of new consoles.
While the developers have not yet announced a release date for "The Last of Us 2," there are speculations that it will come out sometime between 2020 and 2021.
