'The Originals' Season 2 Premiere Date, Spoilers: New Characters, Hayley’s Hardship, Familiar Faces, 'Rebirth' Airs Oct. 2

Fans of the 'The Originals', the spin-off to 'The Vampire Diaries', will be excited to learn that the show has some interesting changes planned for Season 2, which starts October 6 on The CW.

According to Julie Plec, the executive director for the show, the premiere episode entitled, "Rebirth," will introduce two new characters. Also, the episode will showcase Hayley's personal trials, following her transformation into a hybrid in the Season 1 finale.

Beyond that, fans should expect to see the Mikaelson family back from the afterlife.

E! News has verified that actors Sebastian Roche (Mikael) and Alice Evans (Esther) are slated to return for the new season's first five episodes.

During an interview with E!, Roche revealed that he had a feeling he would return to the popular spin-off series, even though his character was murdered by his own son, Klaus.

"When you have Originals in the title and you're Papa Original," the 50-year-old actor teased, "I knew that eventually I was going to pop my head in."

In addition, he is reminded fans to keep an eye out for his character's wife, Esther, who will be revived using the body of a young witch. She'll be taking one of her sons with her, but that's all that's known at the moment.

"I can't wait until they meet and find out they've both returned," he eagerly disclosed, "It will be quite interesting when Mikael finds out that he's surrounded by his entire family again. The emotional ramifications of that encounter will be fascinating."

He went on to say, "We don't know if she's going to come back as who he knew 1,000 years ago, but she's still the embodiment of his wife. She was someone that he loved deeply and she was torn away from him. Then he took the blame for her death, so of course it's going to be very emotional."

In other spoilers, the new characters that will be introduced are Mary Alice and Meagan. Also, there have been talks about a potential crossover via 'The Vampire Diaries', but there is no solid evidence to confirm this.

Mary Alice will be portrayed as a witch with a history with Marcel. Meagan, on the other hand, is portrayed as a girl born without superpowers. However, this won't stop her in carrying out her mission to locate her long-lost family in New Orleans, which will not end well for her, should she ever find them.

Lastly, viewers will remember from last season, Hayley, who was able to save herself from the effects of her transformation by utilizing her baby's blood. Sadly, she lost her baby in the process. Fans will expect her to be in a bleak state of mind when the season opens. Despite this loss, her persona is expected to move past this tragedy and evolve.
