'The Originals' Season 4 Release Date, Spoilers: Show Set For 2017 Release; May Be The Final Season?

Along with talks about a traitor in the Mikaelsons family in "The Originals" season 4, details about the show's cancellation have also surfaced.

"The Original" season 4 might end soon, TV Series Finale has learned. As per the publication, the show's ratings was not at par with its predecessor's ratings, that it may conclude after airing four seasons.

The ratings is not a new issue for the "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff. As per reports, "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 was reportedly halted on The CW because of its progressive ratings drop, following Nina Dobrev's departure from the show in its sixth season. It is added that "The Originals" season 3 only pulled off a mean of 0.38 rating in its 18 to 49 year old audience, which suggested a 36.36 percent decline from its previous seasons.

As per TV Guide, "The Originals" season is set to is feature a time jump, which picks up from the events in the show's third season finale. According to the publicatin, the time jump will make events smoother for the audience, though the series' release date has no bearing on the plot for the new season.

In other news, one of the Mikaelsons may betray the family. This is related to Joseph Morgan's Instagram post on Sept. 8. He teased details like creation of odd partnerships like foes becoming friends; however, some peaceful dynamics will also be torn down, which includes the element of betrayal.

About Kol and Rebekah's dynamics in "The Originals" season 4, executive producer Julie Plec stated her thoughts. In a statement, as cited by Inquisitr, the characters were going to bond in a way that the audience had not gotten to see so much about what their future is in the family and how much of such crazy they were expected to live through.

"The Originals" season 4 is set to return to The CW in early 2017.
