'The Witness' PS4 News: Jonathan Blow Talks What To Expect From The Forthcoming Game Patch

Two quarters following its release, Thekla Inc.'s "The Witness" is set to have a PlayStation 4 patch and its bound to change the face of the game.

Thekla Inc. is working n a PlayStation 4 Pro patch for the 3D puzzle video game, according to the studio's official website. As per developer Jonathan Blow, as cited by the publication, the said patch is set to focus on visual quality, as the game is already running at 60 fps on the original PlayStation 4.

The studio mentioned that the game's PlayStation 4 Pro patch is set to have one of the two modes and it is dependent to the current display device. According to the report, using PlayStation 4 Pro with a 4K display will render at 1440 p or potentially more, while keeping a consistent 60 fps. Also, it can be upgraded to 4K, which signals text, menus, and UI at 4K resolution.

On the other hand using PlayStation 4 Pro with a display of 1080 p or lower will render at 1080 p, which replaces the old 900 p. Also, the visual quality will progrees from 2x to 4x MSAA, while keeping 60 fps. As per the studio, they are also checking added visual enhancements, such as a stretch in streaming distance for hgh-resolution meshes or a decrease in the fade-in between far LODs.

Overall, the PlayStation 4 Pro can be plugged into a 4K and HDR compatible TV or a standard HDTV, as per Games Rader. According to the publication, the patch will also benefit non-Pro PlayStation 4 units.

According to Thelka Inc., the aforementioned features are subject to change, so they are not promising players that those will be the final specifics for the game.

"The Witness'" upcoming patch is set to be downloadable on Nov. 10.
