Tim Tebow Praised by New England NFL Owner Robert Craft "I wanted Him on the Patriots"

Tim Tebow got cut by the New England Patriots over the weekend and it disappointed more than the fans of Tebow-mania. Coach Bill Belichick makes the final personnel decisions on for the team and typically only keeps two quarterbacks on the roster for the season. Tom Brady is clearly the starter and backup Ryan Mallett outplayed Tebow in the preseason (in the coaches eyes) enough to keep the back up spot. That left Tebow on the copping block.

Patriots owner Robert Craft, who had been outspoken in the last several weeks about his love for Tebow, spoke to the media in the days after the final cuts to share his disappointment.

"I love Tim Tebow and I very much wanted him on the team," Kraft said to the media.

"If you look at four of the last five years, we've only carried two quarterbacks," Kraft continued. "And when cut-down time comes, you need those last three or four positions for depth, and we happen to have, I think, the finest quarterback in the history of the game, and he's not going off the field except by injury. We have a great second-string quarterback. When he came in, he came in as the third quarterback and we were all rooting for him. Life takes funny turns, so no one knows what's going to happen in the future, but whatever he does I know he's going to be a great success off the field and I'm rooting for him to get his opportunity on the field as well."

Coach Belichick does have a small history of bringing players back during the season who got cut, so that is always a possibility and one that Belichick wouldn't rule out at a press conference, but is still a long shot.

Hopefully another team with a poor record and poor quarterback will give Tebow a shot at winning some games and would definitely sell some tickets.
