"Saturday Night Live" new season rumors have been circulating as to who would be hosting for the season premiere on September 28th. Names that have circulated have been from Miley Cyrus to Lady Gaga to Lindsay Lohan.

However, it has been made official that popular SNL alum Tina Fey will actually be hosting the season premiere to kick off SNL's 39th season on NBC.

This will come as a pleasant surprise to fans of the show as they know they will get a strong performance from Fey.

Tina Fey, 43, started as a writer for SNL in 1997 and in 1999 became SNL's first female head writer. Fey started to act in the skits and became one of the favorite cast members by the time she left the show in 2006 to pursue other shows.

From 2006-2013 she had a wildly successful run with another NBC show that she created and also starred in "30 Rock". In 2007, Fey won an Emmy Award for 'Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series' for her work on "30 Rock".

Miley Cyrus has also been confirmed to host and be the musical guest on Oct. 5th. Oct. 12 will feature Bruce Willis has host and Katy Perry as the musical guest.

There will be five new cast members debuting this season replacing a slew of SNL cast members that departed the show including Bill Hader, Fred Armison and Jason Sudeikis. Seth Meyers will also be leaving to take over Jimmy Fallon's late-night show when he takes over for Leno.
