Toys R Us Black Friday Deals Were Few and Far Between This Year

Several Black Friday shoppers in New York City complained to CNN this year that there were not many deals, and all of the deals that were offered were gone by the time shoppers arrived to the store. One of the reasons for the lack of good deals for Friday shoppers could have been that the store opened at 5 PM on Thanksgiving afternoon. Shoppers flooded the store and scooped up all of the Black Friday deals before Friday even started.

One customer named Agata Nowak showed up at Toys R Us at 8 PM on Thanksgiving, the time that the store opened last year, to find that all of the sale items were gone.

Richard Barry, the Chief Merchandising Officer for Toys R Us, told CNN Money, "We're planning significant intensity for this year's holiday shopping season. If you're a procrastinator out there and you're thinking you've got a long time before the holidays, you'd better shape up."

Cathleen Leal, from Los Angeles, left her Thanksgiving dinner early to get some good deals at Toys R Us. She told LA Times, "I love to do this, I live for this. I get an adrenaline rush out of this and my family understands because they love their gifts."
