Trayvon Martin: A Little Justice After-all. News Ad Uses Recordings From Trayvon Martin Shooting.
It's been a little over a month since the hearing and verdict of the Trayvon Martin VS George Zimmerman trial. Not much justice was done, but hopefully this new "Anti-Stand-Your-Ground" advertisement will bring some sort of hope/faith back into the justice system.
The new "Anti-Stand-Your-Ground" ad uses Zimmerman's actual audio from the call he made to the police moments before killing Trayvon Martin and it also uses the neighbor's 911 call where you could hear the cries for help and that fatal gunshot that ended Martin's life. In depth, the video features Zimmerman being told not to follow Tryvon and the neighbor describing what she witnessed in her back yard. The ad also shows a re-enactment of the shooting with the ending being several lifeless bodies on the ground with hoodies on just like Trayvon wore that night.
Non-profit organization Coalition to Stop Gun Violence aims for changes in gun laws and are responsible for the creation and release of the public service announcement. In all, they hope the ad will motivate American's to persuade legislators to repeal the "stand-your-ground" law.
The communications director, Ladd Everitt said "These are laws that are causing human tragedies, and that's what we are trying to show." There is also a website that features the ad and allows the public to sign a petition to ask lawmakers that the stand-your-ground law be repealed. Attorney for Trayvon's parents, Benjamin Crump urged people to sign a petition by his parents to amend stand-your-ground laws. He asked for people to become "Trayvon Martin Voters" and support changes to not only stand-your-ground laws, but to racial profiling, and stop-and-frisk laws.
The video for the ad is posted above and below this article and to view and sign the petition click HERE and support the cause "Trayvon Martin Voters" !
