'True Detective' Season 3 Air Date, Cast, Premiere News: Third Season Is Happening, Nic Pizzolatto Returning On Board
Although the production of "True Detective" season 3 has been shelved for quite a while, loyal fans of the series have not given up on the possibility of its return.
Recent reports about the series claim that Cary Fukunaga will no longer return for the upcoming season.
"True Detective" season 1 received stellar reception from viewers, as opposed to season 2, which received poor ratings both from viewers and critics. Because of this, the future of season 3 remains unknown.
According to Game and Guide, HBO is still open to producing the third season despite the plunge in the ratings of the second season. The giant television network claims that "True Detective" is one of the major shows it has produced, so it is reportedly not going to drop it that easily.
After season 1 ended, fans believed that the series was such a cult hit that not following it up with a new season would be blasphemy. Unfortunately, season 2 failed to create as much buzz as the debut season, reportedly because of the fact that its story was rushed. According to reports, the creators of the series did not have ample time to develop the plot of season 2 before it was aired.
Recently, HBO president Casey Bloys confirmed that "True Detective" will be back for season 3, though he did reveal when it will be released. He also confirmed that Nic Pizzolatto will be back as the series creator.
Since HBO has yet to announce the release date of season 3, fans can only hope that it will be released sometime in 2017.
