'Twin Peaks' Showtime News: Director David Lynch Munches On A Donut In New Teaser Clip
Showtime unveiled over the weekend a 32-second "Twin Peaks" teaser video, showing the show's writer-director David Lynch contemplatively munching on a doughnut.
The clip confirms that David Lynch will be back to reprise his role as regional FBI chief Gordon Cole, a detective who has a penchant for pie to beat Agent Dale Cooper's. Titled "Twin Peaks | David Lynch Returns as Gordon Cole," it is pretty clear that the revival series will see Lynch's return. Apart from that, the teaser says nothing else about what fans should expect from season 3.
In October, the network also released a tight-lipped promo for the new series, in which some cast members talked about their excitement for season 3 but did not provide any detail as to its plot.
According to reports, the upcoming season of "Twin Peaks" has a total of 217 cast members, composed of actors reprising their roles and several new ones going aboard. Some of the recent cast additions are Michael Cera, Laura Dern, Sky Ferreira, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Trent Reznor, Tim Roth, Amanda Seyfried, Tom Sizemore, Naomi Watts and Sharon Van Etten.
Actor David Bowie was also scheduled to make a cameo appearance as FBI agent Phillip Jeffries but unfortunately died prior to filming.
"Twin Peaks" season 3 was shot as a continuous film and will only be cut into episodes during post-production. The creators of the show have not yet announced the official release date of the series, but it is expected to premiere in the first half of 2017.
