Twitch AutoMod Latest News: More Moderator Approval Options Introduced

The Twitch AutoMod was introduced in order to moderate the chat messages that might be deemed inappropriate by the broadcaster.

The press statement from Twitch read, "AutoMod is a unique moderation tool that does more than filter inappropriate chat. When a user sends a message that AutoMod flags as potentially inappropriate, the message is held in a publishing queue awaiting moderator approval."

The Twitch AutoMod allows the broadcasters to tweak the level of censoring to filter the type of dialogue they want to see in their chatbox. As the press release explained, "Beyond identifying inappropriate words and phrases, AutoMod can detect potentially inappropriate strings of emotes and other characters or symbols that others could use to evade filtering."

The Verge noted that Twitch AutoMod is an opt-in feature, which means that it might not be accessible in all channels. With this feature, you can pick and flag words, phrases or links that you don't like. You can also oblige the users to follow your set of rules before they can use the chat. You can even exclude others in your chat through a list of preferred subscribers.

Ryan Kennedy of AutoMod said, "For the first time ever, we're empowering all of our creators to establish a reliable baseline for acceptable language and around the clock chat moderation."

For now the Twitch AutoMod is being tested in beta for the other languages. The list so far includes Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Polish, French and Czech. The default language of the feature is English.
