'Under the Dome' Season 2 on CBS / Stephen King to Write Episode 1 of New Season / Season 1 Finale September 16, Season 2 Premiere Date Summer 2014

Well it looks like the citizens of Chester Mill won't be solving their inexplicable dome problem any time soon. CBS recently announced they'll be renewing the popular series for a second season. The new batch of 13 episodes will air some time in Summer 2014.

"We're excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester's Mill," Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment President said in a statement earlier this week, "and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season."

According to CBS, Under the Dome Season 1 has averaged roughly 13.8 million viewers each episode. The Season 1 cast includes Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Dean Norris and Brit Robertson.

Even up against The Bachelorette season finale, Under the Dome still managed to draw a whopping 11.4 million viewers for its most recent episode.

Also, producer and creator of Under the Dome, Stephen King will be writing Episode 1 of Season 2. Along with producer Steven Spielberg the new season of the show is gearing up to be even better than the first.

Season 1 of Under the Dome airs on CBS Mondays at 10 PM ET up until the series finale September 16.
