'Vampire Diaries' Season 5 Spoilers: Steamy Photo of Damon and Elena / New Cast Members and Characters / Season 5 Premiere Date October 3 at 8 PM ET [PHOTO]

Though we're still more than a month away from The Vampire Diaries Season 5 premiere, October 3 at 8 PM on The CW, the Internet's been buzzing with rumors and speculation over the upcoming episodes.

Director Joshua Butler has been sharing, more like teasing, fans with photos of fan-favorite cast members.

While filming the second episode of Season 5, Butler gave Damon and Elena fans what they wanted, posting a steamy photo of the two nose-to-nose, lips less than an inch away. [PHOTO above].

The shot is a little blurry but its safe to say Damon and Elena are still together, after the heartbreaking Season 4 finale where Elena chose Damon over his younger brother Stefan.

"In death you're the one that made me feel the most alive. You've been a terrible person ... I'm not sorry I'm in love with you. I love you, Damon," Elena confesses in the Season 4 finale episode.

Butler also teased fans with a photo of Silas, who is supposed to be locked in a box underwater. Doesn't look like Silas will stick around for Season 5.

"If a hot immortal introduces himself as Silas, watch out. #MysticFallsProblems #TVD 5x02 #DirectorPride," he tweeted.

Along with fan favorites Damon and Elena, Season 5 also has a few newcomers to the cast.

Olga Fonda joins the Season 5 cast as "a mysterious European beauty who follows Rebekah and Matt back to Mystic Falls."

True Blood actress, Janina Gavankar is back in town as a "beautiful, exotic and self-assured woman" ready to win back a former lover.

Vampire hater Jesse, played by Kendrick Sampson, is a "hot, smart, confident and disarmingly sweet" student Whitmore. Can Caroline convince him to kick the vampire discrimination?
