Van Halen Writing New Album 2013: Original Band Back Together and Writing New Release for 2015?

Original frontman David Lee Roth of the popular rock band Van Halen sparked up the rumor mill last week when he told audiences of That Metal Show that the band was back together and was writing a new album for 2015. Roth told Jim Florentine of the popular Sirius XM show "Ozzy's Boneyard," "I was up at Edward Van Halen's house, maybe three days ago - just before I came here to the city - and we're starting to put music together."

The only member missing from the original four people in the lineup is bass player Michael Anthony. Anthony has been replaced by Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang Van Halen.

Van Halen fans have learned to be patient over the years because the band takes a long time getting anything done. The reason for this is that they always put their personal stamp on everything that they do, from stage design to T-shirts. Roth said, "We don't hire out and have somebody design a bunch of album covers for us and then choose... we start from scratch ourselves. Same thing with the merchandise - if you buy a t-shirt, that was designed, literally, in my living room. On and on... stage design, lighting rig, putting the show together - it takes about a year and a half, 18 months, because any idea that you have is 85 phone calls."

The band's last release was in 2012. Take a look at the interview that was quoted above and let us know what you think in the comments!
