'War For The Planet Of The Apes' Trailer: First Trailer Shows Biggest Battle Between Apes And Humans
Caesar and his colony of apes are preparing for a war against the humans in the new trailer for the upcoming film "War for the Planet of the Apes."
20th Century Fox unveiled the first trailer for Matt Reeve's film this week, setting up what seems to be the biggest battle between apes and humans in the history of the film series.
The teaser video opens with a bunch of apes on horseback on a beach. A voice-over of Caesar then speaks, saying that he did not start a war but offered peace.
"I offered you peace. I showed you mercy. But now you're here to finish us off for good," says the leader of the apes.
The clip then veers between lush forests, waterfalls and bleak landscapes, until the group of soldiers is shown passing into a dark cave as they search for the leader of the apes. Then, gunfire welcomes them as the human soldiers stumble upon the group of apes.
The trailer also offers glimpses of Woody Harrelson's Colonel, a procession of military vehicles, and a child that seems to have been rescued by the apes. In the trailer, the merciless Colonel is shown pointing a gun at the leader of the apes.
"The irony is we created you, and nature has been punishing us ever since. This is our last stand. And if we lose, it will be a planet of apes," says Colonel in the trailer.
"War for the Planet of the Apes" hits theaters on July 14, 2017.
