Wentworth Miller Suicide Attempts. Prison Break Star Struggles to be Openly Gay / During Human Rights Campaign Dinner [WATCH NOW]

"Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller came out about his sexuality this past August after writing a letter declining to attend Russia's St. Petersburg International Film Festival because of the country's Anti-Gay laws. It's been a long time coming for the actor after struggling with his sexual identity for years.

Miller spoke at the Human Rights Campaign Dinner held in Seattle on Saturday and during his speech he confessed to the audience that he tried to commit suicide more than once after not being able to cope with not knowing his true sexuality.

TMZ released the video footage and Miller, 41, says he first tried to kill himself at 15 years old. "I waited until my family went away for the weekend and I was alone in the house and I swallowed a bottle of pills," Miller said.

"I don't remember what happened over the next couple of days but I'm pretty sure come Monday morning I was on the bus back to school pretending everything was fine. Growing up I was a target. Speaking the right way, standing the right way, holding your wrist the right way. Every day was a test and there was a thousand ways to fail."

"When I thought about the possibility of coming out, how that might impact me and the career I worked so hard for, I was filled with fear." Miller said after choosing to lie about his sexuality when he began his Hollywood career.
