White PS4 Release Date, Price: Sony Standalone White PS4 Launches for Christmas 2014
Sony Computer Entertainment's release of the white PS4 'Destiny' bundle received a favorable response from gamers and enthusiasts, evident as the UK headquarters hit one million sales last week. While the new style console was originally packaged with the game, Sony has announced that a white PS4 standalone will be available before Christmas this year.
Sony Computer Entertainment UK, and Ireland VP - MD Fergal Gara, clarified that the company has not yet determined any official date for the standalone PS4 White Edition, but it will certainly be out this year.
Gara also talked about the partnership with 'Destiny' and developer Bungie as beneficial for PlayStation to get exclusive content. "If you think about the first moment that we're going to do something different with PS4, how appropriate is it to pick such an important software project and such an important partnership, it just makes total sense to bring out a special PS4 for a special new game that we genuinely see as being quite a catalyst now into peak season that lies ahead," Gara said.
Unfortunately for fans from other parts of the world, it is not yet clear whether the new style PS4 will be released outside European countries especially since Sony is still under the bundle contract.
A report by Videogamer, reads "A standalone White PS4 is expected to release later in the year, but don't expect it to cost much less than £349 [$569.99]."
On a side note, gamers in the Middle East need not to worry so much about the White version, as Jumbo Electronics in Dubai released a limited edition 9 carat gold PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
The console was first exhibited in Games 14, the biggest game convention in the Middle East, and was made by Italian jeweler Gatti. Both Xbox One and PS4 Gold Edition costs £8,390, roughly $13,700.
