'Wipeout: Omega Collection' PS4 Release Date News: Nine Playable Modes Unveiled

The "Wipeout: Omega Collection" PS4 release date will reportedly come in the summer of 2017, although the exact launch wasn't revealed yet.

Meanwhile, John McLaughlin, senior producer of Sony XDev, wrote in the PlayStation blog that there's going to be nine modes available in "Wipeout: Omega Collection."

The nine modes are: Zone, Tournament, Speed Lap, Time Trial, and Single Race from HD Zone Battle, Eliminator, Detonator from Fury and Career Mode from 2048.

When the PS4 release date comes along, expect enhanced graphics for the "Wipeout: Omega Collection," which means 4K support. But McLaughlin was quick to point out that the studio is not only focused on enhancing the visuals. The soundtrack was also enhanced to include "a few classics as well as tracks from the hottest up-and-coming artists."

"This spans more than 26 unique tracks and 46 unique ship models, which sees the return of all of your favorite ship manufactures," he wrote. "Play with your friends, either with split-screen local multiplayer, or online with up to eight Anti-gravity Racing league pilots."

Polygon said that there appears to be three titles that will be included in the "Wipeout: Omega Collection." These are the "Wipeout HD," "Wipeout HD Fury" (which was an expansion) and "Wipeout 2048."

"Wipeout 2048" was the last game released by SCE Studio Liverpool for the PlayStation Vita in 2012. The studio has since closed down.
