Xbox One Sales Hit 3 Million Mark in 2013 Microsoft Reveals
Today Microsoft released numbers on their newest next-gen console and reported that they sold over three million Xbox One units in 2013.
"Over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013," said Mehdi, corporate vice president of marketing, strategy and business for Microsoft's Xbox division on Xbox Wire.
According to Microsoft, the Xbox One also sold over one million consoles on its launch day, and hit the two million mark just 13 days later making it the fastest selling console in the U.S. for the month.
"November NPD Group figures released today revealed 909,132 Xbox One units were sold in the U.S. in the console's first nine days, making it the fastest selling console on the market in the U.S. Xbox One sales averaged a volume of more than 101,000 consoles per day, significantly outpacing the nearest competitor," a statement from the Xbox Wire read last month.
The numbers are very impressive for a console that launched on Nov. 22 in 13 countries including: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, the U.K., the U.S. and New Zealand.
Originally the Xbox One was to launch in 21 countries, but Microsoft lightened their load to just 13 come launch day. Initially these now alienated countries only had to wait until early 2014. Now, according to Geek, most of these countries will have to wait until July, and some until September to receive an Xbox One.
The Xbox One is currently available for $499.99.
