As per Game Spot, "Yakuza 0" is a prequel story that follows the rise of Kazuma Kiryu to a prominent entrepreneur. According to the publication, this shall be accessible to players who pre-order and those who secure the game's first-run copy.

Sega also released the trailer for "Yakuza 0" - Kiryu. It opens with the character in combat with a beaten up character, who asks him to stop beating him. He kicks the latter, who presumably dies. The next sequence shows the statement "The debt has been paid," along with the news featuring the aforementioned incident.

The succeeding scenes show the character being withheld from his organization, which is followed by his fight against the conglomerate's many members. This involves punches, glass crashes to the male restroom, and kicks. The trailer also sees Kiryu on a car, holding his gun, ready to kill.

The clip sees the boss and Kiryu, saying "All right, fine, I'll come to you!"
