Thousands came out over the weekend to hear the good news being proclaimed on the great lawn of Central Park. Singer after singer hit the stage to rejoice with the city in the biggest city fest party of the summer. During Matt Redman's set he revealed how much the Luis Palau association really means to him.

Palau rallied one thousand New York churches together to make history in the big apple. In one of the biggest evangelical moves in New York City in over a decade, approximately 60,000 people gathered to hear the gospel and worship.

Redman performed the hit songs "This is Amazing Grace," "We Are the Free," "10,000 Reasons" and even brought Chris Tomlin out during his set as a surprise guest. But what was most surprising was that Redman revealed that he came to first know Christ at a Palau event years ago in England.

After his set the Brighton based worship leader introduced Palau and the Argentinian minister prepared to offer Christ to the thousands of New Yorkers in attendance. Before Redman left the stage Palau grabbed him and candidly spoke to the crowd about the talented singer/songwriter.

"Give it up for Matt and his band, a real ham" Palau charmingly declared, "He's my spiritual son, so I love him quite a lot."

"He's married, five kids, wonderful wife, lives in England, that's the only mistake of his life," he joked and went on to reiterate how much he loves Redman.

On Instagram Redman posted a picture of the two of them on stage during the event with the caption "A great moment with Luis Palau, age 80, the man who led me to Christ."

Central Park was the grand finale of countless CityFest events thrown throughout all of NYC in June and July by the Luis Palau organization. The events are set to continue next month in Madison Square Garden with Chris Tomlin for a night of worship in America.
